Tomoko translates low technology and old cultures to current lifestyles with practical & enjoyable solutions. Using her insight led and human-centered approach to design she rethinks and redesigns both how devices work and how to use them.
Tomoko set up her own studio T Magpie Design / Tomoko Kita Studio in the Netherlands in 2016 after seven years experience in several design studios in Osaka, London and Hong Kong.
She was in charge of projects with world leading companies, collaborative projects with traditional craftsmen and local industry, and international exhibitions.
She has showcased at several international exhibitions in Japan, Italy, Germany and the U.K. Prior to one year of studies on the M.A Design Products course at the Royal College of Art she graduated from Kingston University, with an Honours bachelor's degree in product and furniture design and had completed her BSc in Japan.
